"We see that SMEs are still dealing with challenges such as inflation, operating costs, accessing capital, cash flow pressures and ongoing trade/tariff issues.
Access to capital remains a major hurdle especially for mid-sized growth businesses. A 2024 report identified a $38 billion equity funding gap of SMEs with revenues between $2m and $100m (Report reveals $38 billion equity gap limiting SME growth).
While access to capital is a constraint, businesses are still looking to expand operations, purchase other businesses, increase stock, buy new equipment, purchase facilities, hire people and generally grow their enterprises.
Businesses are therefore turning to more flexible funding arrangements and getting assistance around funding options and strategies. Quite often this involves reviewing corporate and execution strategies (strategic planning and operational efficiencies), cash flows, funding options, “packaging” the business to present a compelling case to the appropriate funding partner.
We find that doing this “groundwork”, especially for complex businesses / transactions and identifying the strategic options and counterparties, makes a big difference in terms of success. Funding Strategies is well placed to help with these challenges so if you need assistance please reach out.
